718 Boxster

The New Porsche 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S

The New 718 Boxster model evokes the legendary success of the Porsche 718 and continues on a long tradition of mid-engine sports cars. Nearly two decades after the development of the Boxster, the new 718 iteration charms even the most discerning automobile enthusiasts.

718 Boxster’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine

A newly developed four-cylinder flat engine–the most prominent change in the new model promises increased power and better fuel economy despite the two cylinder loss. The 718 Boxster develops 300hp at 6500rpm, while the Boxster S develops 350 hp at 6500 rpm, 35 more hp than its predecessor. The impressive torque delivery lets you fire off from 0-60 in 4.9 sec and 0-60 in 4.4 sec for the S variation.

The 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission offers high-performance control transforming your drive. PDK provides both an improved manual mode along with an automatic setting, resulting in not only a superior gear change but also a well-rounded versatility in your 718 Boxster.

Redesigned Enthusiasm

The redesign of the 718 Boxster creates a new image. One that is sharpened and more sculptural to be exact. Although the new model is still recognizable as a Boxster, considerable changes include a wider front end, new Bi-Xenon headlights and upgraded side air intakes.

The rear fascia also received a facelift which now sports totally redesigned taillights accompanied by a Porsche branded accent trim in between. Additional sporty details include:

  • New exterior mirrors with v-shaped mirror base
  • Heightened fenders

The side contouring serves a higher purpose beyond style as it’s functionally directs air into the side air intakes to better supply the turbocharged engines–which provide 35 more horses than its predecessor. While admiring the model from the side you’ll notice larger wheel arches, specifically designed to accommodate up to 20-inch wheels.
